To develop a healthy daycare shopping list and food menu, Children’s Corner child care center locations provide the following child nutrition program:

  1. Work with a registered dietitian or nutritionist to ensure the menu meets all state and federal regulations.
  2. Meet the specific needs of the children in their care.
  3. Offer a variety of nutritious foods from all food groups to ensure that children receive a balanced diet.
  4. Include seasonal fruits and vegetables to add variety and increase the nutritional value of meals.
  5. Offer whole grain options, such as wheat bread and pasta, brown rice, and oatmeal.
  6. Provide a source of protein at each meal, such as lean meats, poultry, fish, beans, eggs, or tofu.
  7. Limit the amount of added sugars and saturated fats in meals.
  8. Offer low-fat dairy options, such as milk and yogurt, to provide children with calcium and other essential nutrients.
